Orienteering is going to be at the Outdoor Show in 2005 after a huge success in 2004 with approximately 3000 visitors to the Orienteering stand. This year we have 3 orienteering challenges lined up including an indoor and outdoor course and a computer challenge which is from the Y.O! cd-rom for new orienteers.

And only a week later
just up the road will be the JK
Now there is an opportunity to properly get people involved in the real thing. Impress with the years biggest event.
Is there any activity to ensure a link up between the two events ?
Special provision for newcomers at the JK hooked in via the Outdoor Show ?
One not to be missed.

I was actually thinking about this (believe it or not). but it's tricky isn't it.
I will be putting an appeal for volunteers in next month's Ad Hoc - but with a bit of a health warning - I don't want W.M. volunteers buring out before the JK - and that's part of the problem - we are seriously stretched.
Now i could try and tackle the link myself - but as you all know BOF and I don't get on too well and I really feel I have enough on my plate with the event at the moment.
There is also the possibility that some newcomers might find a major event like the JK daunting rather than encouraging and I don't know where we would find people to help them through it.
Someone come up with some suggestions on how we can realisitically work this - but i think the ball will have to be in BOF's court to make it happen - perhaps it's something the new RDO's could handle.
