Entries are now open for the Surrey Five-O at the World Cup, 29 April-3 May 2005.
After the many delays and changes, we are keen to promote this event quickly and widely, so please tell all your friends about it. It's going to be good!
Full details are at http://www.wcup2005.org.uk
We would prefer entries to be made online, though an entry form is available for printing and a printed flyer will be available at events in early 2005.
Saturday 30 April is the Future Champions Cup Middle Final.
Sunday 1 May is a National Event, UK Cup, the Future Champions Cup Long Final and the Southern (England) Championships!
All 5 days are BOF ranking events.
Look forward to seeing you there.

Not at all!
The fifth day race does not fall on a public holiday - AFAIK all British schools will be back in action so there would be no juniors there. It would be pointless therefore to make it a counting day, hence the decision to have the Surrey Five-O series scored on the best three of the first four days. There's still Five days of spectator races, all of them BOF Ranking events, however - hence the title.
Why bother to go? Well, you might not be able to score any Five-O points, but there are BOF Rankings points on offer instead. You'd get the chance to run one of the World Cup courses too (or a subset at least).

That may be so, but I was unable to use the online entry system for this event. Unlike the system being used for this years JK and Scottish Six days, the one online entry system for the Surrey Five-O does not allow for concessionary entries (i.e. those of us 21 and over, who are still full time students).

Quite an easy decision, I feel

On-line student concession entry functionality should go live from Friday 7th January, latest Monday 10th. Sorry for the delay.
Follow the link from http://www.wcup2005.org.uk or go direct to http://www.fabian4.co.uk .
Full time students over 21 can enter at junior entry fee levels. Please add university details in the special request box. Thanks.

I should really ask the organisers about this but what do people think my chances of them letting me run the sprint race are? I'm a student at the University of Surrey and have been here for four years so the word 'campus' and phrase 'back of hand' come to mind. But then again my current girth may prevent me from running fast anyway.
Ps. Retirement sucks so I'm back.

You could always run non-comp. I've ran through the campus on training runs many times over the years and you do get the feel of the place. On a new area I would suggest that is an advantage over someone who has never seen the place before. I may have to be non-comp myself.
