Thiw was tried several years ago. When at the O-Ringen in gothenburg in 1990 Kip Keino, he of the Olympic gold medals, was there giving a tlak and running M40S. They have so few areas to use and obviously never really took to it. i think we'd be in trouble if they did. Think of the speed there top runners go at!!

Yeah the Marathon class was perfect for the Kenyans speed, however, Peter himself would still choose running over orienteering, even after his great win, so I don't feel it will take off in Kenya for a while.
If it does, it could change Orienteering completely.
Just look at the impact on Athletics since the 1970s.

I want to walk up the side of the mountain, I want to walk down the other side of the mountain. I want to swim in the river, lie in the sun. I want to try being nice to everyone.

other thing that has to be noted is the financial aspect: the top africans train as hard as they do so they can come up here and win $$$$$ in the city marathons etc. I guess scotia could probably tell you more about that sort of thing.

Band Aid / Run The World
I ran in the Band Aid run in central London - ended in Regents Park, I think. Actually, could only run about 4 of the 6km, as there were so many people taking part. Raised about £20, I think, £10 from our community nursing instructor who noticed my injured knee & decided to sponsor me & suggested ibuprofen, instead of telling me not to run, which she probably realised wouldn't have worked. Great atmosphere, with some great friends from UCH.
