If you want race analysis, see if you can get odraw up and working, or the one that alternativet has (forget its name now). Upload a map, upload a set of splits, point out where the controls are. Then everyone can draw their routes for that course and you can get animated races. It's a bit fiddly if I remember rightly, and probably a right pain to set up, but that would really be fantastic. Or am I just being an über-geek again?
Alternativet one:

braddie - sounds very good to me. only thing is that your post was very vague (although i like the fact that you were thinking about us while naked). could you send me an email at mailto:info@nopesport.com with a slightly clearer plan if you have time? thanks
ed - also sounds really good, the map draw thing. the one that is there at the moment is too fiddly though. we have discussed this already, but it has been put on the back burner at the moment due to more pressing issues and the fact that it sseems like a very complicated setup. unless you have any ideas about how this might work? let me know
thanx

another thing i was thinking - we have loads of discussions on here, and there are loads of contributors, but i don't know who half of them are! if people would just fill in their profiles with their real names this would solve the problem, and in my opinion make arguments and motions for change stronger...
i'll start the trend by making sure that my profile has my proper name on it!

unfortunately, this cannot be changed. sorry ben.
i suggest that if people want to show others their real name, they put it in their signature. that should sort it
i do agree that adding real names lends more weight to arguements, but i also believe in a persons right to privacy

i think in some cases it does. for instance, i don't know who you are! I have worked out as much that you were at edinburgh uni the same time as me, and thats about it!
To name a couple more - Mrs H? Braddie? all complete mysteries to me. If I am getting sledged I want to know who is doing it! Not that I would be particularly bothered, it would just make me laugh.
However, on a more serious note, I reckon on the discussion pages especially people should be more open about who they are - forums have in the last 12 months become an important arena for gathering opinion and advice on BOF rules, agendas, UKcup formats etc.. I just believe that there might be people out there whose opinion could be worth more if they weren't hiding behind a veil of anonymity.

Oh. I thought this name thing was part of the fun - and I don't think i've ever 'sledged' you Ben - I shall have to get my Viz Profanasaurus out again and look it up. There is a train of thought that says if you see this post from a middle aged housewife you might not read it and skip on to someone more your own age.

The most amusing thing is that Ben, you actually do know who I am, but I haven't [noped] properly in about 3 years.
I am Rich Bradfield, currently at the University of Warwick. A few people probably know who I am, such as supersaint, gg, marknixon,Ed Nash, Dan etc.. But it has been 3 years, things have changed!!

Now, I know you're a feminist, and I think that's adorable, but this is grown-up time and I'm the man.

Ben, I'm sure I recall you greeting me by this particular soubriquet on one of our first meetings in the 'burgh.
I guess it only makes a difference if it's someone you know in real life using a name here that you don't recognise.
As for me, I'm sure you'll get it eventually. And if you don't it'll be fun watching you try.

It's a magical world. Let's go exploring.
