British Orienteering Squad Fund Raising
Murray Strain, Graeme Ackland and Scott Fraser will attempt to beat the World 10,000m Record of 26:20 set by Kenenisa Bekele.
There is 50x 200m to be completed and we will do it in relay style. (E.g. Scott runs 200m passes to Murray (he runs 200m) then he passes to Graeme (he runs 200m). This should give us approx 1minute recovery.
To beat the record we have to average under 31.5secs per 200m. (Approx 17 repetitions each)
It will take place around the start of February in Meadowbank stadium, Edinburgh.
If you would like to help support the squad funds then why not sponsor us any amount of money you want. See if you can estimate what time we will do it in.
*Special prize for the entry that is closest*
Please make cheques payable to ‘British Orienteering Squad account’
Thank you for your support
You can pass on an entry if you see any of us (or members of BOF/support fund) or send to:

not sure ~25s maybe, for a single rep?
ran a session of 8x200m as preparation for susf xc last weekend. average rep was ~31.2. but that was with only 30s rest each time, and not on a tartan track.
show me the money!

Erm... 33.0sec, set at Uni before Rocky or Scotia or Kenenisa Bekele were born. I expect the young 'uns will make up the difference.
Other, perhaps more realistic targets...
2004 Scottish best 29:53
Interlopers club record ~29:40
2004 UK Best 28:45
Scottish Record 27:43
UK record 27:18

Who set the Interlopers club record?

I'm thinking of Peter Dymoke - not a regular, but he once won his course at the CScup final. I haven't got his exact time. Others may be quicker and at least one present club member ran faster than that before joining us.
