The annual get together in Sheffield for ex-Shuoc, ex-Scpoc and ex-Shuso members is on 4/5 December.
As usual it features the Spook relays, Spook dinner, footy against the students, and Captains Memorial. Optional extras include an Experiemental (?) DVO Regional Event at Eyam Moor, and golf instead or work on Monday morning.
I realise this weekend clashes with the nopesport birthday bash in Glasgow - so I'll leave it up to you to decide which event will feature the most free beer... (for Sheffield students only!!)

If I told you that the "p" stands for Polytechnic (remember them?) I'm sure you can work it out.
However, a quick check of the Hallam Uni web site reveals that:
Someone at SHU wrote:Sheffield Hallam University Athletic Union do not run a Orienteering Club, although there are opportunities through BUSA (British University Sport Association) to enter teams and individuals in Championships. If you are interested in Orienteeringthen please contact the Athletic Union Officer.
so probably not many ex-Shuso members joining Spook this year then...

Don't worry, if it doesn't show up we can soon get another one....
An attempt on Mr.Hayman's 1:20 record for the 3-pint yard will therefore be possible (and we should have enough beer for about 200 goes at it!!)

okay, the two abbreviations arn't completely obvious yet..
Sheffield city polytechnic orienteering club.
Sheffield (hallam?) university sports orienteers.
first one ok? second doen't seem quite right. the little h in ShUOC is for the sHeffield clearly, but is that the case for Shuso?
In terms of the Yard record, it could go to a random one off non orienteer this year, if he joins. (remember mac from previous pub golf and marky's leaving pub crawl?).

Correct.

Not quite - it's Sheffield Hallam University Student Orienteers (or rather, it was, until they folded)

A lot of people can talk a good Yard, but few can actually do one
