Don't like the bracken at Sherbrook. It makes it very unfair to early startes. No bracken would make it reasonable for top events as it does have variety

Good question. I'm really pissed off about that because it's an awful area for a JK classic type race, but it's great for junior coaching, local events etc. But we can't use it now for almost 2 years.
However, I don't think anybody has overrated it!

Emargoes like that ae a total load of T**S:) We spend ages discussing how to retain juniors & coach them...... then some petty rule says that area 'x' can't be used for two years because of a false fear that it'll stop someone getting an unfare advantage. The same system that says getting free start times doesn't allow advantage to be taken:)
Leave embargoes to the elite......... anyone else can use common sense:)
PS - I like Ilkley Moor....... only time I ran there was some night event way back in 1974

but im not sure if this is overated, coz everyone knows it is a pap area, yet they still insist on having quite big races on it each year (BSOC, FCC, JOK Sprint)
I can't agree more about Sherwood Pines being a bad area, but Sherwood Forest (Budby) is a good varied area requiring sharp navigation at speed, much more suitable for big races.

What you wuss...it's fantastic area, I am looking at it from my lounge now, you just need to run a bit harder, the place is magical, the best bit though is the NW end (Pant Mawr) stunning, it goes on for miles..like me. Next time I plan/organise/control there I will invite you down and stay at ours. Gotta be worth another visit.
Ogof (too rough to go quickly enough to make navigation a challenge)

sherbrook - the mutts nutts. great area.
lossie - agree with paddy, if you slow down in the intricate areas you can definitely pick off the features if you really concentrate, i used to agree with graham but at this years BEOC i really focused in the intricate bits and it was no problem. vague areas were where i made my mistakes too.
