It devalues international orienteering when the women all qualify, and world cup points are guaranteed for completing the final. A whole different kettle of fish from WOC / EOC. Interested to hear what people think the reasons are for the men not qualifying higher. We have more money than most other nations. Where are we going wrong?

The cost and time of WC rules it out for small nations - athletes who have to finance these trips themselves don't bother with it as WOC is the main race. No point in going to a World Cup race with only 40 women - makes a joke of the whole thing!
You have to wonder will the GB world cup next year be a complete flop - the cost and time required for WOC in Japan combined with the type of areas might mean that you have a max of 100 athletes compete. Would this mean that BOF would lose money by hosting the event? where would this money come from?

so they're all in! seems like the only thing qualification is for is to sort out a start order... lots of Brits starting near to each other on the men's!

Less of the negativity
there have always been World Cups that have had low entries, be that through time of year or cost.
Its still an international race and you stil heve to be good to get good points.
Don't think UK will have a problem next year as its the first set, the last set may do.
For the guys - Jamie and Dan have not been working on sprint.
Ewan and Matt are new at senior international and have done well, very hard for Ewan to be so close.

Thanks for the updates folks. Stuck in the lab at the moment so not much time to check the web.
As far as Ewan reaching the final, if he has managed that then great. He had a very heavy cold for the whole of last week and was still suffering at the weekend. I'm sure he'll pull out all the stops to show what he's made off.
