Guess I'm the first person to get home./ on a computer so heres a quick summary
There was a bit of a cockup in the transport department, meaning liz got left behind. Mhairi woke up feeling dreadful and didnt run.
Scotia came in first for the 2nd team on 1st leg, with about 15 teams within a minute (including schnitz and marky saunders).
Nixon then ran fastest second leg to bring GB 1 into a good posn (within sight of leaders from the start) and I then had a good run and sprinted past two russians on the run in. Swiss guy blew quite a big lead (15-20 secs at least) on the last few controls to finish 4th. Everybody else did really well, and the guys 2nd team with Dan and Duncan finished 7th i think.
Not sure about the girls....

Girls teams:
the 1st team was Suzy, Ruth and Cerys (in that order) following mhairi being ill. 2nd team ended up being Lucy, Helen, Jess (after Liz had got stuck in traffic-team was decided as the 1st leg runners were running, so Rose didn't realise she was a 1person team until she finished). Suzy came back quite high up although a few mins down on the leading pack, then Rose and then Lucy.
Suzy handed over to Ruth who was gaining up til the spectator control but lost a bit of time afterwards to get over taken by Helen who had taken over from Lucy. Jess went out a couple of mins before cerys, but didn't manage to keep ahead and cerys overtook a swiss team-finishing in 10th with the 2nd girls team in 12th!
i hope this makes sense!

You are confused. Only one Rose mentioned in Jess' post.
Team 1: Suzy, Ruth and Cerys
Team 2: Lucy, Helen, Jess
Team 3: Rose
Lap one finishing order: Suzy, Rose, Lucy.

is this the first time that a GB guys (or girls?) team has ever won a JEC/JWOC relay gold medal?

For everyone's information.
The staff didn't forget Liz at the Hostel. Jase (not known for his organisational skills - which is why he works with Chris) did the travel plan the night before and made the mistake of thinking Chris Sellen's car would take the 2nd leggers (But he was running first leg - derrr!).
So Snoots was asked to come back to the YH to pick up Liz and Lizzie.
It should have been less than an hour round trip. And all should have been there to watch all the race.
But how was anyone to predict the M25 would be all-of-a-sudden closed. Not something anyone could have worked out.
The girls did a great job given the shuffling we put them through.
I have now resigned...........
from any futher involvement in logistical travel planning.
Jase
(PS - If anyone feels I should resign from squad coaching altogether please say so)

I think you should resign! you would have had loads of fun with Janine and I at 25manna - managing a team in south of england against a fantastic race in Sweden - no question! Although I guess the results at JEC must have made up for it a little bit!

JEC Relay win.
I have a hazy memory of Steve Birkenshaw, Dave Troman and Jason Inman being the winning team back in 1988. I think the men's first team of Steve Nicholson, Neil Conway, Simon Bourne mispunched, but nevertheless GBR2 won.
Not quite the same level of competition in them days!
