OK - as things seem to be a little bogged down here and are going from bad to worse in Banter I thought I'd bring you all some important news concerning JK2005.
You can forget any carping whingeing and moaning from the likes of trebor about this event - it's in the West midlands at the end of March - there is nothing you, i or anyone else can do about it but make the most - and that is exactly what i have been trying to do for everyone behind the scenes here.
The JK2005 combined event centre and camp site will be at Lichfield Rugby Club. That means Hot Showers, Bars, Wilfs and....Nope.
Nope will be proviiding a range of on-site entertainment including possibly ultimate Frisbee, Sprint O (with Emit) football fun and games with prizes. there will be a nope camp at the top of the field - not so far away as you can go do lally - but far enough to give you a bit of freedom.
There will also be a range of other attractions for EVERYBODY. Easter Egg O for the little'uns. spot the deliberate mistake on the O map , Quiz, banter evening, video update , town walk and a range of money off and other perks at all the major historical sites in and around Lichfield including Shugborough, Wall Roman site and the Cathedral.
I have been listening to you all and hope that this will be the first of a new type of Extra Value Orienteering (EVO) event which will make a great holiday for everyone with the JK at the heart of it.
Needless to say - it is important that everyone is mindful of other people's requirements to make this work (keep the late night noise down - kiddies asleep in tents etc).
So start lobbying your parents/partners/children now - because the camp site is where it is all going to be at and let me know if there is anything you would particularly like to be laid on (lets be reasonable here) and i promise i will see what can be done.
Could someone please post this in the Junior Forum as well as I know some of them never look anywhere else!

Not like you to miss out on the camp site banter Gareth - will ASSOK not be present in the nope camp?
Samsonite has asked if a bus can be laid on from the camp site to the events - but i can only do this if it covers it's costs - would people use a bus and how much would they be prepared to pay? ( bear in mind it's a long way to day 1 and there is a £5 car parking charge to cover the 3 days.)

A bus would be a good idea, but whether I used it would depend on how flexible it was rather than how much it costs. I'd want to have time to socialise at the event and browse the traders' stalls as well as run, rather than be rushed to get back to the bus. The ideal would be regular buses in both directions but without forcing people to use them that probably wouldn't be viable, so I'd suggest that a single bus arrives early and leaves late.

Childcare. Every other country seems to manage it.
Even if its only a big tent where all the kiddies can go to play, rather than sit in the car in the March rain for four hours.
Even if you supply no manpower and have a requirement that the parents hang around.
And you might give correct information to any parents running elite on how to figure out day 2 start time (last two years I was an hour or so earlier than implied by the programme instructions )

How about a phone number you can call the night before to get Elite start times? Not everyone stays that close to the event centre and would like to know when they start to plan when they set off and eat breakfast etc.

Graeme - it's a good idea to have a place where you can go with your own children - although most clubs do bring a club tent to events like the Jk which must be a help. I am basically only concerned with the camp site and the event centre but I will certainly take your request to the committee - they have been very receptive to new ideas - and see what they say (next meeting mid oct)
As for the elite times -I have no idea how that works but will find out and report back. Rich - what do you mean you're not staying close to the event centre - I'm telling you it's the place to be
Mark - the bus would have to be out early and back late to cater for as many people as possible.

I have not booked anywhere as yet but between the second day and the relays I will stay at home because it's doesn't take long to get from where I live.
Elite Classic race (day 2) start positions is determined by the position from the medium race (day 1) so the start times aren't published before the evening of the classic and alot don't know their start time until they get to the event.
