One of my bugbears about orienteering in Britain.
In a race the one thing you have is the map, you don't run round with the final details. There's a perfectly good IOF map symbol to show a road is out of bounds (a series of red crosses is a forbidden route). Likewise for fences / walls you're not allowed to cross (a purple line along the fence / wall). Text on control desciptions isn't much use as some people don't look at them.
