You can't prioritise everything, it's true. But I would feel I'd let OUOC down if I didn't run for them after the amount of support they've given and are still giving me towards finding my O feet again. Missing BUSA is not an option.
But it's really not me I'm worried about. It's the juniors. I'll race every weekend because I love it, and there's no real prioritising for a girl with no goals!
Overcrowded fixtures

It's possible to go to something every week and select which races you will focus on - but travelling/money/time will always be issues
I'm similar to Becks in the sense that I'll go to every event that I can as I don't have priorities like an elite runner, I just go because I love it - I look forward to being busy orienteering since I get bored during quieter times (like august)
and missing busa isn't really an option for me either! (not that I'd want to after fond memories of Longmoor)

Becks > The fixtures will be even more crowded, there's a Varsity Match to fit in there somewhere. and I know you're not going to miss that one...

That's what I thought, but surely that's true for any weekend from March onwards - they are in the domestic competition season, and the training effectively needs to have been done by then. Having said that, aside from JK and British, most of the 'big' events in that period are only of interest to the oldest junior squad members anyway?
Actually, from our perspective, the domestic calendar at the moment looks quite sparse after Easter, at least until the end of May.

would point out that regional championships often happen in this area and anyone from M/W14-35 and a few more golden oldies besides are going for the races (i.e start select, fcc, ukcup

Spot on...as much as I still orienteered during my exams I think two events every weekend would may have been pushing it too far. Every other weekend - now there's a different story
Will? We've got proper fire now!

Oops! You've obviously not yet heard about the Southern Six Day in the May Bank Holiday week ... six high quality events (including a National Event and the Future Champions Cup Finals) on World Cup areas, some using WCup courses too. See http://www.wcup2005.org.uk/page.aspx?id=12434 for more info.
Next year's World Cup is arguably the most important event ever to take place in England. As well as providing world class competition, it hopes to provide a catalyst for much-needed development of orienteering, not just in the South but in the rest of the UK too. Indeed there are two of the organising team whose specific roles are to capitalise on the World Cup purely for developmental reasons.
There won't be an event as big as this one in the UK for quite some years now so it's crucial that everyone is as positive and upbeat about supporting it as possible. We won't get as good a chance again until the next time we put on a WOC ...

No I hadn't - I'd seen the entry in BOF fixtures that there would be some associated events, but not much more. Thanks for the link. Format looks good - far more variety and interest than in most multi-days in this country. Just a pity that I'm working in Paris all that week (all together now, aaaggh!).
