In fact, thinking about it, when I arrived with the sheets, one of the registration team told me that the only people he'd missed were the WCH teams who i tracked down, and WAOC who he said had only just left, so i ran after you and questioned the juniors in the carpark about which club they were with (NOC were populating the carpark at the time) If you were one of the cavelcade of people carriers leaving the carpark at the time then i can only appologise, I suppose if the time had been avalable then I could have sent someone over to windly to track you down, but to be honist the manpower as suggested above didnt strech to that.
If anyone is thinking about organising it next year, then I've got a whole host of ideas on how to get more man power.

The thing is, in a relay like this, good commentary is vital to know what's going on and lift the atmosphere of the event. It was a great event, but it could have been amazing.
Im on a role here..
we did set someone off in here to find some banter and to tell others to have it ready for the commentry sheets. see the "pheonix arrises from the ashes" thread. all we got was trebor trying to encriminate one of his clubmates, who informed me if it was used she'd be less than impressed. (and it really wasnt that great!)[/url]
Argue for your limitations, and sure enough they are yours.

I've been through all the documentation I received at the event, and can only ask, what commentary sheet? It wasn't in the pack I received.
However, whilst some of the organisation might have been a bit rough edged at times, that was inevitable for all sorts of reasons. The event was a good example of the 80-20 rule in operation, something that perhaps we orienteers ought to be more willing to respect on occasions. At the end of the day, all of my squad enjoyed the event, with most fairly raving about it (as much as some teenagers rave about anything ), and COBOC deserve a huge thank you for all their efforts.
We also have to remember that they are one of the smallest adult clubs in the country - there are some substantially larger clubs that have not put anything like this on, and certainly not as often as COBOC. As a senior who ran as a junior but never had anything like this (or the JIRC, or the FCC, or the YBT) put on, I'm as envious as hell of our current juniors - whilst the Harvester is good, it's never had quite the same buzz.
The big crunch is finding an alternative venue to ease pressure on COBOC and on Sutton Park (maybe alternate with another venue?).

No one asked for help with commentary - becks and i between us could have done most of the job
anyway must point out that a disgraceful show from LOC producing no teams. We also missed a MEROC team -but thanks to all those clubs like SO and ERYRI who helped accomodate juniors from smaller clubs.
Finally, the dorset coast path really is a run, and these people are orienteers - i myself would never even consider the DCP, and a few people from SARUM i believe are more interested in the peter palmers than the DCP.

we could have the peter palmers mid summer and use camping? or even alongside the harvester (but i think this wouldn't be quite as good)

Ensure that you inform the next organisers of that well in advance trebor, it will save them a lot of trouble.

Im assuming that your an aire member from your loaction awk, which is even more intresting because you were one of the few teams to fill it in and hand it back.

I thought the sheets were a wicked idea- they allowed teams to create some humour (at the expense of others!). Eg. Bowen (for some reason) didnt take kindly to his orienteering career highlight: "spending an afternoon with Jene Hoare at the 0007" but changed it to the even funnier (as he promised us after stealing the sheet ) "beating James Cleave on a yellow". The commentators didnt announce much from the sheets tho- where was my "has ginger hair" interesting point!

i asked a couple of people to help with PPR commentary through this site (however via private messaging) unfortunately neither of them could make it.
in retrospect i should have put out a general notice. but as i don't really know some of the people on this site personally i decided against it.
who did do the commentary by the way? thanks!

still COBOC...

you'll never guess what... Barkfoot has a partner apparantly!! the Sutton Observer had an article on him the other day, asying he was spotted cooking sausages with his wife. Perhaps we will hear the patter of Barkfeet
