Anyone know which event is going to be used for the West Midlands round of the Yvette Baker Trophy now that the Wrekin Event has been cancelled on the 26th September ?
Will another event be organised for this date or can I now go to the Twin Peaks?

didn't know it was cancelled until your posting, but see it's down as cancelled on W.Mids fixture list. Have made some phone calls, but not got any leads as to what will replace it. Since it was cancelled partly due to lack of an organiser it seems unlikely that another club would be able to get anyone to do it on that date either. Guess most likely that it will be alongside an alternative colour-coded event already in calendar.
Will continue to try and find out what's going to happen, but am now away until next Wed. Does anyone else know?

seems like it could be one of the Walton Chasers events this Autumn. They have one at Shoal Hill and one on Oldacre planned. They are both on Cannock Chase. Best keep those two weekends free until something definate is announced.

Still to be confirmed, but seeing as noone else in the W Mids has an event suitable before the final, it looks like we will be doing both the first round and the final.

anyone know if there's a BOF record somewhere (like last year) which allows you to quickly check which juniors have gold at each TD? Rules for team selection still depend on knowing that bit of info. Not been able to find a link from BOF website this year.

Have emailed Hilary Palmer to find out the same. Apparently there isn't, at least not at the moment...

From BOF 2 weeks ago (on request)
Yvette Baker Trophy
Rules
1. Club eligibility
All BOF English (open or closed) clubs are eligible to compete
2. Individual eligibility
The competition is open to juniors (M/W20 and under). Competitors must be local or full members of the club for which they are competing, either individually, or through family or group. Competitors may only run for one club in the competition in any one year.
3. Organisation of fixtures
The preliminary round will take place in the period September to November, with a national final in December. Preliminary matches will normally be organised in each association at a designated colour coded event (or badge events using ability based junior classes), although entry will not be limited to clubs in that association. Additional matches may be held as long as all matches in the association have at least 3 clubs entering complete teams, subject to the agreement of the competition co-ordinator. A club may compete in only one preliminary match.
4. Organisation of individual matches
Each match will normally have a co-ordinator. Clubs will be required to inform the co-ordinator of their intention to participate, and who their team manager is, at least two weeks before the event (i.e. by Sunday night a fortnight before the event). The match co-ordinator will circulate a list of clubs competing in the match to all team managers prior to the match, and report results to the Trophy co-ordinator. Team managers will be responsible for ensuring scores on the day are as accurate as possible, and for liaising with the match co-ordinator. Queries or disputes specific to the Trophy that can't be resolved by team managers should be referred to the Trophy co-ordinator.
5 Qualifying for the final
(a) For the purposes of this rule a 'complete team' is a participating club which has started (even if not finished) at least 9 eligible runners (as defined in rule 7). Whilst clubs with incomplete teams can qualify, they do not count for deciding how many clubs qualify from that round.
(b) From each qualifying match the first placed club(s) will qualify if there are less than 5 complete teams; first and second placed clubs will qualify if there are 5-7 complete teams; first, second and third placed clubs will qualify if there are over 7 complete teams.
(c) In matches with at least 3 complete teams, for every qualifying team which finished in the top 5 in the final in the previous year, an extra qualifying place will be provided. (Extra places are not be provided if the 'top 5' team does not qualify.)
(d) If any association is unrepresented after (b) and (c), then the highest scoring club from that association from any qualifying match will qualify, as long as they were a complete team.
6. Competition classes
Courses used in each match are Yellow, Orange, Light Green, and Green. Men and women are scored separately on all 4 courses, giving 8 classes.
7. Course eligibility
Eligibility for each course is defined as follows:
Green: any junior
Light Green: any M/W14-, plus any M/W16+ who has not achieved Level 5 Gold badge
Orange: any M/W12-, plus any M/W14+ who has not achieved Level 4+ Gold badge
Yellow: any M/W10, plus any M/W12-14 who has not achieved Level 3+ Gold badge
(c) Pairs may compete on the Yellow courses. As a minimum requirement, neither member of the pair may have achieved a gold standard in any badge class in the current calendar year, nor a colour standard at the colour they are competing on (or a higher colour!). However, it is expected that clubs will only want to run pairs to enable novices to participate, and that clubs will observe the spirit of this rule. Shadowing by adults of individuals or pairs is not allowed.
(d) Competitors from the same club on the same course must start at least 4 mins apart.
8. Scoring
(a) Scoring in all classes will be 100-99-98 etc. All eligible juniors from participating clubs score points.
(b) Each club counts its 9 best scores from across all 8 classes to produce its total points, with a maximum of 4 counters on any one course (i.e. Yellow, Orange, Light Green, Green), and a maximum of 3 counters in any one class (e.g. Yellow Boys, Orange Girls).
(c) Clubs finishing on equal points in a qualifying match will tie for that position, with the extra club(s) qualifying if appropriate.
(d) Where clubs finish on equal points in the final, positions will be differentiated by looking at the scores of the 10th best eligible counter for each team, then if needed, the 11th best, 12th best and so on.
9. Second and subsequent teams
Second, third and subsequent teams from each club will also be scored for interest, but the club positions will be decided on the first team scores only.
