Emit

I have never found it a problem - compass in right hand, emit card in left hand and the map swapping between the two. If you hold the emit card across the palm of your hand it doesn't really get in the way. I guess it might be a problem if you have really tiny hands - I don't know what little juniors do.

I'll have to use my fifth hand:
1: compass
2: map
3: magnifier
4: control descriptions
5: emit card
Mountain marathon organisers suggest you wear e-cards on a piece of string round your neck.
Hope that helps

i dont suppose there is a correct way to hold it. try using it a few different ways, even swapping it about during an unimportant race, see what works for u.
im a fan of opposite hand from compass, on either index or pinky, with the card across my hand.

I have the strap on my thumb of my right hand with the brick inside my hand. That way I can hold it and position it more easily for punching. I have my compass and control descriptions on my left wrist.
I simply advise that that you try different ways of holding it and find what's most comfortable for you.

little juniors have real problems i used one when it first came out before the uk had gone SI and i hated it. I could never use one properly. I dont think i would have a problem now but if we are trying to get more juniors into the sport we should use what they find easiest.
Don't mention it

Out of interest where did (do) you hold a punch card? Sounds like you're out of hands anyway!

first finger of non compass hand,
Thanx Rocky - first useful suggestion I've had. Need to try it at next event with emit (Caddihoe) - does it work holding the map in the same hand?

yeah, but you'll need to switch your map to the other hand to punch
