For those of you that know the Balfour orienteering family from Edinburgh - Good to see that the youngest Kirsty has just qualified for the semi-final in the 200m Breast.
Not sure if we can credit her success to early orienteering training although she might be the first orienteer-ish athlete to win an olympic medal!

Slightly off the subject, but I am convinced that I once read an interview with Colin Montgomerie (grumpy Scottish golfer) where he claimed he had once been Ayrshire schools orienteering champion. Did I imagine it, or did he, or is it possibly true? It would have to be a long time ago.
Good luck to Kirsty, and all the other Brits at the Olympics even if they have never been orienteering

Not sure if this is a rhetorical question but yes he did orienteer and yes he did win silver in LA at 1500 (some other bloke called Coe won gold).
