World Mountain Running Trophy 2004: Trial Races 14th August 2004
Junior and senior trials for the 2004 “up-hill” Championships, to be held at Sauze d’Oulx, Italy on 4th/5th September, will be on 14th August. Race HQ is Braithwaite Institute (off A66 NY234240).
Junior means those aged 16-19 years on 31st December 2004. Runners who are younger than 16 years on 31st December 2004 are not eligible to run in the trial races.
Courses: Braithwaite to Grisedale Pike summit, Coledale Hause and finish on Grisedale Pike summit. Junior women run from Braithwaite to the 550m contour and will not climb to the summit of the Pike.
Entry: EOD is £1. The trials are solely to select runners to represent England.
Prizes: for junior runners only. No prizes for senior runners.

World Cup Braithwaite Trials (approx)
Junior Women 3.57k - 447m 3.5k - 470m
Junior Men 8.46k - 860m 8k - 910m
Senior Women 8.46k - 860m 8k - 910m
Senior Men 10.14k - 1017m 8k - 910m
(Masters 8.46k - 862m 8k - 910m)
Timings:
1.00pm Junior Women
1.30pm Junior Men/ Senior Women + Masters Women
2.00pm Senior Men + Masters Men
Selection Policy: Trial performance will be the predominant factor in team selection. Any runner who cannot attend the trial and wishes to be considered for selection should contact Robin Bergstrand in writing at least one week before the trial date.

My guess at selections would be first two junior women from trial plus last years world champion Karrie Howwitt if she wants to run. Senior women probably first three from trial then either fourth or Natalie White. Junior men wise first two will go but then the two other places will be interesting as Alistair Brownlee and Andy Ellis were together at the top with a bit of a lead but then went the wrong way on the downhill section. (course was up, down a bit, then turn round and back to top, except junior women who finished below top) Senior men selections will be interesting as 4 top men are racing in Euope and have asked to be considered despite not running trial. Apparently the trial race will be judged on time, whatever that means. Could be a close call for Lloyd who was 3rd.
Final selections will probably appear on FRA site but likely not for a bit.
Vets are also being selected too, but I think their champs is similar to world masters orienteering in that its an open race where anyone in age group potentially could run.
