We're pleased to announce that the details shown on the website are now Final. Any further changes will be highlighted, and competitors will be notified of any significant changes.
And remember - free printed booklets of details will be available to collect along with your Bib, so no need to print pages yourself. Please note that TrailO details are not included in the booklets.

Am I alone in actually wanting to print out the Final Details before arriving in Sheffield? But I can't as, although the information all appears to be available, it's set out in five or more separate web pages and not in a printable format.

Of course I want to print out the details before I arrive on the day of the race.

I precis and write out the most important bits for day 1 - like parking & assembly locations, distance between, distance to start - and look online at any complex mapping details (like the 2 sets of stairs in the sprint).

Personally, I'm quite happy with the details being online only.

However, my partner likes them on paper.

It's nice if the organisers provide printed details in advance to save me printing them out (provided the font is large enough for her to read).

Providing first day details in a booklet which we don't get until we turn up to run on that first day is completely and utterly pointless.

So I've printed the details for the sprint and both days of trailO, as so often cursing under my breath as someone has gone to a lot of trouble to create snazzy webpage features that use a lot of ink but don't print well.

Hopefully the booklet will serve for the other three events.

Totally agree with that.
I don't like using a phone for scrolling through details due to eyestrain and clumsy arthritic fingers. Aging demographic and all that....
I'm currently printing out the bits I need for the JK - no guarantee I will have either mobile signal or internet connection at my accommodation.

But at the S6D we can collect the booklet, along with bibs, etc the day before Day1.

In the old days they used to sent out the programme booklet in the post.
And you got results in the same way, usually about 6 weeks after the event...

Having a printed booklet is nice, but as others have pointed out, doesn’t help a lot for day 1. Perhaps the booklet could be posted on the web site as a PDF so we can have it on our devices and do whatever annotations we want, or make nice printouts (with no web artefacts) to scribble on…

Are you talking about Wharncliffe? I can't reply for any other day, but at Wharncliffe the mapper has decided to use the narrow ride symbol (508) for the mountain bike tracks. This is for clarity and to reduce clutter as there are many tracks in some areas. I think it works well, once you get used to what he has done. This information is all in the Final Details.
There is nothing to indicate the direction of travel as these are all informal tracks and there is no official direction of travel. Generally though they are steeply downhill and used by serious downhill mountain bikers.
We have appealed to the biking community to stay away on Sunday but inevitably there may be the odd person who ignores this request. There are warning signs out and we will be taping the odd track, so hopefully we've done everything we can to reduce the chance of an incident. It would be impractical (and unenforceable) to make the tracks OOB. Competitors have been warned to be aware of the possibility of bikes when crossing these tracks (all in the Final Details).

I'm thinking of the relays:

There is a bike track in part of the wood which is clearly indicated on the map using the standard bike track symbol.
Competitors must not run along the bike track at any point
...
No one should cross the bike track on a downhill section
...

I didn't know there was a standard symbol but the one used last time was a dashed purple line to show you can cross but not run along I guess...?

It is an ISOM map. I think the only mention of a bicycle track in ISOM is for the standard footpath symbol. Clearly they mean something different.

I did an event in Wales many years ago where solid purple lines were used for bike tracks, which resulted in me taking large diversions to avoid crossing OOB boundaries. Apparently everyone knew that this was the symbol for a bike track and that I should have looked at the legend.
