Forestry England have their own heavily advertised series of 5k & 10k trail runs, for which they expect punters to fork out nearly £25 (+ parking £9 for 3 hrs).

FE is clearly attempting to maximise revenue from access to our forests and with these levels of charges why would they grant access to event organisers like ourselves unless we can match the sort of revenue they clearly expect?
Depressing ...

Re: Forestry England access charges
Pretty sure those are being organised by a commercial provider, for profit. FE are probably primarily happy with just getting people into forests, so the parking fee (included in race entry) which they will collect from the organiser. But where someone is trying to earn an income from using their forests I don't object to them charging a fee on top of that.

There are cheaper options for 5k trail runs in Delamere Forest:

Same in Wales, Forestry Commission comes under Natural Resources Wales:
https://trailrevolution.eventrac.co.uk/e/margam-5k-10k-1-2-marathon-10654
Our club has its own series of Trail challenges 5km and 10km, £5 for BO members, £10 for non members, basically Long Orange. As opposed to £25 and £30!
https://www.sboc.routegadget.co.uk/rg2/#65
We had one on the Sunday 4th Feb and 2 more to come in the series, more the merrier.
