Re: Christmas
You’ve had the chance of Oing in Loch Ard (or next to), can’t get more old-school tough than that !

Re: Christmas
Big Jon, I have a map of Loch Ard North of M21E from the Scottish Champs in 1985....in which you apparently won in 71 mins. 9.0km with 300m climb. I think it belongs to Hugh Buchanan as it's his writing on the back. It's a 1:15k Harvey's map surveyed in 1977 by J.A.T. Richards, K Berge & P. Jackson.....proper old school

Re: Christmas
There was also Drumore Wood, a place used in tales to frighten children in the 1970s. Had a "run" there once although I thought the 1979 6 days incarnation of Loch (H)Ard was pretty terrifying, still is.

Re: Christmas
Drumore - memories of a Scottish Champs date? Mud, mud, mud, mud and more mud - the patches of runnable forest between the thick blocks turned into total quagmires. Maybe it was after that event we were banned from O-ing there?

Wish for 2024 - British Orienteering coming together to deliver WOC.
Bilbo has got his crayons out and Christmas Cup will return in 2024. Whether these things are related, you'll have to wait and see!
