OCAD = convert to Bezier curve, but it does not adjust Lidar squiggles anything like as well as OOM Simplify (which also has a conver to curve option; use both).

No I meant use the "create smoothed contours using TPI" option within the DEM wizard 'create contours' tab
It seems to do a reasonable job on the maps I've looked at recently, although I've not done anything with complex contours recently.
I've not tried the Open Orienteering Mapper DEM generator yet.
Be interesting to see the difference.

I have found that 0.2m or 0.25m contours are useful for picking up the general alignment of line features, like roads, paths, ditches or hedges. Their height isn't important. Of course they generate big files.
