Using SI Orienteering App for Android
I know the Master Adventure crew use this for C&I etc, but anybody else using this at local level? Just started working with it, and would like to be able to pick somebody's more experienced brains if they are willing. DM me if preferred. Thank you! (It's not just urban mapping where I'd like to acess a forum - SI management etc would be good too!).

Yes, thanks. I was aware of that thread, and have had a good read of it. Useful background.
Are you still using SI-Droid? I notice that recent results on the SBOC site include a link to the SI Centre, which suggests you might be using the SI software now?

Re: Using SI Orienteering App for Android
We tried the SI app and then switched to SIdroid because it proved to be more useful. (not SBOC, by the way) How we use it is described on this document;
https://www.ayroc.co.uk/images/16732871 ... ide_v3.pdf
These apps are essentially spreadsheet editors. Before the event the app can be preloaded with an IOF XML spreadsheet describing the courses and a CSV spreadsheet listing the entries. The downloads add times to the spreadsheet and then the result can be exported in several other spreadsheet formats. Managing events with this software is easier if you have an operator who can use spreadsheets. The entry CSV spreadsheet can be typed up manually or obtained from a booking agency; we use a home made Google form for local events. SIdroid doesn't actually need the courses and entries to be preloaded but it makes the task on the day a lot easier. A 10 inch screen tablet is easier to use than an 8 incher or a phone.

Re: Using SI Orienteering App for Android
Just as a follow-up to this. We've started using SI-Droid rather than the Sport Ident orienteering app. Both simple to use, but the deciders were
(1) we can post results from SI-Droid on our own website; SportIdent requires use of their website at an ongoing price.
(2) SI-Droid can handle course input from Purple Pen, whilst SportIdent will only allow input from OCAD. Manual input on both is straightforward, but SI-Droid less restrictive.
SportIdent is a bit more 'professional', but SI-Droid is more useful, at least from our perspective (handling small evening and intro events/training).

Re: Using SI Orienteering App for Android
At SOC we are using SI-Droid for low-key events. A number of members are now up to speed with preparing and using it.
AFAIK SI-Droid doesn't "see" an imported entry that has no SI Card number assigned. But it's easy to add an entry as part of the download process.
Shameless plug: Racesignup has an entry export format for SI-Droid.

We built a club entry system so you don't have to! racesignup.co.uk
