As another oldie, I found the laserprinted High Dam 1:15000 unreadable last year. But the offset 1:15 from "back in the day" was fine (same mapper, same level of detail). You'll be fine!
a lot of people (including me) would strongly prefer 1:10k
I'm sure lots of people would prefer a map made as specified by WRE rules, but that includes printing quality and mapping symbols and spacing for use at 1:15. The printed scale is only part of the story.
Nobody explains why we need 1:10 for middle distance, when the WRE rules require an ISOM map which made to be legible at 1:15.
