Having organised and planned 10s of events, I can honestly say EOD makes zero difference to the burden of putting an event on. And our local events are often 1/2 people running them.
Yes, if **everyone** is EOD, then it can be an issue, but if you do some pre-entry, some EOD, then it's easy.
All you need is a table on piece of paper on a clipboard. Someone fills in details and then pays.
Then you give SI number to SI person (or as has been the case when I've done it - also me) and put them in the system. This is the one bit where if you can get pre-entries to lighten this load, then it's beneficial.
But to not allow EOD is just silly. And I just don't buy volunteer burden. The bigger burden is putting out controls and I suspect that that's what is stopping people putting on events - the fact that unless you're retired it's often difficult to make the time for evening events so that you can put out the flags.
