I’ve just refound the results of the first White Rose (August 26th to 28th 1972) held in Broxa Forst and found some famous names.
H. Harung (a Norwegian) ran an impressive 84.44 in the Men’s Open and Sue Harvey won the Women’s Open in 71.59.
A few other famous names won prizes (were these mugs back then?): M. Smithard in M21B, G. Petrie M12, I. Munro W43; and in the relays: R.Smith/S. Harvey/R.Harvey, P.Palmer/M. Palmer/J.Walker, 3 Malleys, S. Johnston/V. Johnston/E. Johnston, D. Roach/M. Lucking/ Patrick. A certain D. Rosen ran two legs for his team.
I’ll bring the results to the Golden Jubilee this August!
On a related matter from another Topic… you won’t need the car once you get there but the camp site is not that accessible by public transport. There are buses from York that stop in Ampleforth but this is about 5km away; anyone coming by public transport please contact the organiser and we’ll try to sort out lifts for the final stage.
White Rose 1972 – 2022… and access!
