Anyone know if orienteering was included in this report, and if so, what the outcome was?

Re: Sporting race report
Pretty poor overall though. Slightly surprised they don't seem to have any metric for the wider participation only the elite level.
Out of interest do people think Orienteering has a specific problem or is it just representative of "most" sport. My gut feel is that it has a "class" problem - its very much a middle class sport - if you don't have transport you'll struggle to get the experience you need to do well. It also has a real issue where, for the same reasons, if as a teenager your parents don't orienteer you are far less likely to participate regularly and therefore progress. That will make breaking the cycle hard.

Without reading the specific findings in the report (yes uninformed and ignorant therefore), orienteering has a significant number of inclusivity and diversity challenges.
Class, race, income, transport, entry barriers to name a few....
Some - particularly the transport to consistently different places and locations - are specific to orienteering, but many of the others will be shared by other sports too.
As ever the greater your wealth, the greater your access and opportunity.

And no I don't have any magic solutions to any of them.
But in many instances, we (as a sport) don't even recognise/acknowledge they exist, so we won't find solutions until we do.
