Thanks. The Nopesport community, though not representative of the full spectrum of the orienteering community, has helpful thoughts.
The question was about final results rather than on-the-day. My club, SLOW, for larger events use pdf + Winsplits + Routegadget, with links to British Orienteering and SportIdent query service. (Routegadget includes a splitsbrowser function.)
e.g. JHI 2021 Results (this weekend just past, as referenced by Buzz):
https://slow.org.uk/international/junio ... 1-results/
We used to use the no longer available big web page presentation which we did like for showcasing how much went on at bigger events.
e.g. OK Nuts 2019:
https://slow.org.uk/wordpress/wp-conten ... dex-3.html
For on-the-day we like the SportIdent service. For us it's a practical solution fitting with our entry/timing system. For an audience using phones in a car park, driving home, or not at the event e.g. because of distance or petrol supply issues, it enables lookup of particular individuals/classes. (It is doing a different job to the splendid Scandinavian live results services.)

Re: Preferred Results Format
I've always liked the layout of Mike Napier's page, it's basic but the layout is fantastic (plus having both class and course results is a win)
I'm also not a fan of the sportident drop down menu for class, it's horribly fiddly to use (if you change the drop down and immediately click the find button, which is logical to me, it actually wipes the page as the dropdown triggers the change). Crucially you can't share a direct link to the results for your class because it's just a single page with no anchors/parameters.

Re: Preferred Results Format
I like to use Winsplits for analysis after an event - many others have already said above. The use of colour and the ability to hover over a split is fun. In this region 2 clubs use Michael Napier's results system and also have Winsplits on their results pages but the other two clubs use the SI Timing system and, although splits are available, these clubs don't also have Winsplits which is a shame.

Yes I've noticed that clubs who use SI Results don't upload to Winsplits, not sure if that's due to a lack of a suitable format? Many folk seem to think Michael Napiers simple results display is better anyway, he also has a live version and we seem to get Winsplits as well.

Some clubs don't, some clubs do. It is straightforward but obviously one more volunteer job that someone has to do.

Re: Preferred Results Format
Anybody know how we are supposed to post local event results on here,
https://www.britishorienteering.org.uk/results
Or, does anyone know where the instructions are to be found ?

Clubs nominate individuals to BOF who then provide access to the results portal for those individuals.

Thanks for that. It transpired that no one had ever been nominated for our club.

Re: Preferred Results Format
I've been out of touch with the changes to the SPORTident results pages and this thread prompted me to go and look at them in more detail.
It seems like the default/standard page published by clubs is a single file, rather than the multiple files (one for each course/colour/class etc.) and a master index file along with a single CSS (cascading style sheet) file.
I won't deny that the multiple file upload was a major problem for club websites, as most content management systems (like Wordpress) couldn't handle that process very well, or at all. So it needed someone a bit techie to upload the results files via an FTP application (complicated). Which is why PDF's became very popular, as it was a way around the multiple file upload problem.
But PDF's are really hard to read on smaller screens and shouldn't be used to present content on a website. Try reading an A4 document shrunk down to less than 1/4 of it's original size.
So the new SPORTident one file solves all the upload issues, but there is a price to pay for that. The page is entirely dependant on several javascript files to be downloaded from the SPORTident server every time the page is loaded/viewed. If those files can't be loaded then no results are visible. If the SPORTident servers are down, or the company ceases to exist, all those results archives on club websites will be unreadable.
After building about 25 club websites I know that clubs put a high value on maintaining access to old results, sometimes going back 20 years. Genarally I manage to find a way to preserve and present those old results because they are just standalone plain HTML code or plain text and can be read by any web browser ever made (or future ones). That won't be the case for these new SPORTident results files.
Something to think about.

Does anybody know if that is the case with the HTML results exports from SI-Droid ? Are they a good bet for displaying on club websites ?

Re: Preferred Results Format
Do sportident read nopesport? They've certainly been busy updating their results display.
https://center.sportident.com/results/events
Great job! Much more responsive, easier to navigate and view, plus a splits graph.
