I couldn't resist the temptation to start a thread about string courses...
My son did his first string courses at the Scottish 6 Days last week, and he LOVED it. Now we are looking at the fixture list and wondering what other events we could go to which include a string course for him. It seems you can't filter for this on the BOF website (plus it seems many clubs are increasingly failing to post all their fixtures on the BOF database, which is kinda annoying, but that's a different topic).
So, aside from the S6D and the JK, which events usually have string courses? Does the BOC long? British sprints? Any of the regional leagues? The level B UKOL weekends?
Any and all information will be gratefully received. No limit on location - we're pondering various weekend trips which could include an O event and a visit to a friend/relatives, so I want to cast the net wide

Re: Events with string courses
During covid times events haven't had string courses but hopefully they'll pick up soon.
It usually depends on if there are enough helpers to be honest as it is more effort than you'd think!

Re: Events with string courses
I’m really glad your son enjoyed the string courses at the 6 day. I co-ordinated the string courses this year, with the courses being planned and run by clubs organising on the day.
There is quite a lot of work in them but having two kids who have come through string courses in recent years I feel it’s an essential part of a bigger event. The string courses at the 6 day were under threat due to Covid, which is why we decided to make them non SI - handing out dibbers always causes a large queue.
From my experience, pre Covid, most national and regional events will have a string course and even some local events - I suppose you could also email and ask!
