GPS Watch Choice
Can anyone suggest a GPS watch that' tracks well for Routegadget uploading, gives a noticeable signal that your heart rate is too high/low, displays a choice of information such as HR and distance, and if possible total climb?

I can't give you a specific recomendation, but one site with comprehensive, trustworthy reviews of GPS watches (and quite a lot of other kit) is https://www.dcrainmaker.com/

Garmin seems to be the way to go, as per the initial reply, D.C.Rainmaker is your man....
Quick(ish) answer -
Low Cost (under £200), lots of features - Forerunner 55, no baometric altimeter so climb detail relies on GPS, which, for this purpose is pretty hit and miss (more miss than hit generally).
Mid-Range (£200+ although look for offers and bargains) FR245 is VERY popular, again, no barometric altimeter.
First watch to come in with a Baro is the Forerunner 645 Music, currently on offer at £190 on Wiggle. For the money, as long as you do not creave the latest and greatest, I'd say this is the best package you'll currently find.
Higher end - again, search for bargains, Forerunner 745 (£380 Wiggle, still fairly new so unlkely to be discounted too much) and Forerunner 945 (top of the line) £500 (was £600 on release).... both of these have multiple features, most of which many people will use once out of curiosity then forget.
They basically all do the same thing, and, more or less, to the same deegree of accuracy.
Also worth a punt is the Forerunner 935, the version that was updated to the 945, a solid offering with Baro. and can be found for around £280'ish
b.t.w. - I've found the "autofit" function in RouteGadget to be really quite accurate. Not sure how it works exactly, but after you have seelcted your GPS file to upload (usually GPX or TCX) and then hit "autofit" your control visits are snapped to the (almost exact) location of each control that you have visited. Depending on GPS accuracy and how well (or not) the O map is geo-referenced, making minor adjustments to your GPS trace within RouteGadget is usually quite painless and a pretty quick process....just wish more peple would make use of this excellent tool!

Re: GPS Watch Choice
Thank you DaveR and Silva Surfer, just bought the Forerunner 935 from Wiggle. It even has the long battery life using GPS that was my 4th priority. Looking forward to seeing if it and I can last 17 to 20 hours...

Re: GPS Watch Choice
If you struggle with optical H.R. on your wrist try wearing the watch slightly higher up your forearm when running, it works for me! The data when worn at the wrist (for me) is really poor and tends to be inaccurate and all over the place, but, by just wearing the watch a couple of inches higher on the arm (just for running!) I've found the H.R. data to be really solid against what I know that I can get from a chest strap.
Cheers
