Quoting from the Runner's Tribe. "Cram started training young. At 10 years of age he was training consistently. By 15 he was training once per day, 7 days a week - under the tutelage of Jimmy Hedley. During these early years Hedley made sure Cram’s body was adapting to run on all types of surfaces, and the main emphasis was having fun. During these junior days Cram did lots of fartlek training, cross country racing and orienteering."

I don't know if he'll remember, but Steve was good enough to join an impromptu junior squad training run at the Bislett Games in 1985, despite having just run a mile in 3:46:32, which I gathered from all the shouting was quite good.

At 9:20 into the video - those red tops with white writing on the back belong to certain members of the GB junior squad - no names to protect the guilty.
