I must check if my ban for campsite antics in 1985 has been rescinded yet! Students are probably better behaved now.

Was it not a "lifetime" ban?

Maybe I can get let off for subsequent good behaviour.
The White Rose is one of the anchor points of the British Orienteering calendar, the year wouldn't be the same without it; long may it continue, even if I haven't been back since 1985.

Brilliant weekend - I am completely in awe of the volunteers who manage to deliver....
Night Score
Middle Distance Race
Sprint Race
Urban Race
Maze
Team Event
Trail O Championships
Mountain Bike Score
Plus the campsite, quiz, BBQ, and some extra sprint training for the GB Squad.
All in one weekend!
The races that I did were all excellent. Well done EBOR.
The only down side I could see was the lack of a 'youth camp' and consequent lack of youths.

Thanks Buzz, it's a struggle! But the positive feedback over the weekend made it all worthwhile and is much appreciated.
And good idea from various people re youth camp. If anyone wants to organise this, please let me know; you just need to find a field and supervisers with appropriate child protection checks and decide the age group (bearing in mind if you mix older and younger juniors, the older ones will also need child protection checks) and get permission forms signed by parents for those under 18.... or you could just ignore all the red tape and take a risk I suppose.

The 6-Days campsite has had a youth section (sometimes a separate field) in hte past, don't seem to have been too many problems seeing it up or controlling it.

Agreed, a great weekend.
I see the website has been cleared of the event details.
I hope the results will be loaded sometime, but I'm happy to wait as all the officials have been very busy .....

They’re on the Eborienteers site.

Agreed, a fantastic non-stop orienteering extravaganza. Thanks to all those who must have given up so much time to make it all happen. See you next year, when hopefully it will be a bit cooler

Looks like the spirit of the White Rose Youth Camp lives on. There was unacceptable "youth" behaviour at this year's Scottish 6 Days at the "official" campsite at Comrie Croft and I received a complaint from the normally tolerant owner (Andrew):
Unfortunately we did have a significant issue last night with maybe 100 young people, all seemingly part of the orienteering, who gathered at the Croft to have a drinking party into the wee small hours. Supposedly this is traditional at the Six Days. It obviously wasn’t part of the official social programme, but if it was known that it might happen, based on previous history, it would be have been good to know. As it was myself and another member of staff spend about 2 hours into the wee small hours rounding up drunk/amorous teenagers (most of whom, I’m happy to say were polite), but there was some swearing and a lot of noise disturbing both 6 Day Campers and other people staying onsite (at least one of which we have had to refund), bottles, cans and rubbish have been left all over the hillside, and a young person (first name xxx, registration plate recorded) drove in our car park while visibly inebriated and had a minor crash into another parked vehicle, the owner of which we haven’t managed to trace yet. A fair number of the young folk were not booked in to stay with us, so far as we can tell (and by asking them), so not ideal on that front either. Despite our best efforts, after we thought everyone had either gone to their tents or left, a gathering re-emerged on the bikes skills park and carried on loudly until for another 2 or 3 hours.
Obviously something which is presumably completely outwith the organiser’s control, but thought I’d let you know what had occurred by way of a debrief while it was fresh in my head and perhaps the campsite next year can be forewarned that something like this might occur and be prepared to deal with it appropriately.
One of the miscreants (name known/withheld but he has been spoken to) then posted a very negative review online which was subsequently partially retracted.
Note that post-event I received a further email from Comrie Croft saying what a good impression there was of orienteers.

Fac et Spera. Views expressed are not necessarily those of the Scottish 6 Days Assistant Coordinator

Sorry to hear about that Freefall. Was this year the first to use a campsite attached to a public campsite? I haven't camped personally for many years but in my days as a 'youth' the party on the Tuesday night was one of the highlights of the week. I remember one 6 Days (1985 Faskally?) where there was a bar in a cow shed on the campsite for this purpose.
Without wanting to condone any antisocial behaviour I do think we need to allow our younger members to have a bit of fun on occasions. Maybe something to think about for 2021?
PS I only did Day 1 of the White Rose and it surpassed my expectations.
Thanks also to CLOK for the excellent race on the Friday afternoon.

I was on the campsite. They were making a *lot* of noise, on, what otherwise for the rest of the week, was a *very* quiet campsite.
I can understand why the staff might be a bit miffed.
I was prepared to give them until about 10.30ish at which point I would have been telling them to shut up in a loud voice myself. The campsite crofters got there first.
To be fair, the rest of the week, the juniors on the campsite were very well behaved.
