We have threads about entries and closing dates, with the JK now upon us shall we have a new one about the racing?
On The Red Line plans to report on the open classes, and appreciates information, thoughts and links to photos. Kris Jones, who is not running this year, starts things off for us with a preview of the sprint:

Re: The JK 2019
Orienteers are often up for a quiz when they have the time. SLOW have one for the JK about the Get Up The Speed videos.

No prizes for this, but we are drawing from the feedback questionnaires (visit JROS on Saturday or Sunday as per final details) - someone wins a mini-drone.

Probably too late now but can someone fix the unreadable red text on blue, it is hurting my eyes to try and navigate the right hand panel, no idea how anyone with colour blindness is coping.

It's not really up to the job, is it? I thought it was just overloaded mobile networks at the event but it's no better on a high speed connection at home.

The JK results website just does not seem to work. I am using good broadband and getting no luck. Bit of a disappointment.

Indeed, it has been unavailable all day (from good home broadband). Really quite disappointing.

Diabolical results service. This is a prestigious event - need quality results to match it!

It's been there (very) intermittently - even now, when you'd think the load would have reduced a bit. Still nothing from the Temp-O, though,

Re: The JK 2019
Results service is disappointing but I'm surprised no one has yet commented on the actual timing system.
Elites got two emitags, everyone else just one. Lots of disqualifications due to tags not registering. Some elites being reinstated if their second tag had registered but no second chances for us punters. All very disappointing.

Watching the various twitter feeds back home it does look a bit embarrassing. Not a great advert for touch free emit or BOF tbh

Re: The JK 2019
My daughter ran W10 today, and I ran W21e. We both got to the finish with a punch missing. As an elite, I ran with a back up emitag, and when the initial punch was missing, the back up tag was checked. My daughter had no second chance - she MUST have passed the control in question in order to have gone around the course - and her disqualification stood.
If the organisers were confident enough in the timing system to use it for the JK, then why give the elites back up and not the rest of the competitors? My daughter probably wasn’t the only child crying at the finish today.

Re: The JK 2019
The way the results system truncates first names after seven characters and surnames after nine characters is certainly unusual.

Re: The JK 2019
Embarrassing. But then I've never liked EMIT so wasn't expecting to like the touch free. If it can flash, why can't it beep? And it looks like the results service is linked to EMIT, so it would be out of character for it to actually work.
