Drew Vanbeck from SMOC has been selected as the new Chair of British Orienteering subject to an AGM proposal to allow him to be selected rather than elected.
Are you a nopester Drew? Or if anyone knows him perhaps you could pass on an invite to join the forum. It would be great to hear from him.
Here's his pen portrait...

I assume this is he...

And I'm guessing he works for Accenture (a place of ill-repute and the past domain of several notable orienteers!) ….

Re: Drew Who?
So as Nopesport readers don’t seem to know Drew I thought I’d drop him an email. He called me straight back which was a good start! He confirmed his experience in orienteering is as a local club member although he expects to be able to find more time to get involved in the future as well as the Chair’s duties – he’s going to the JK and also organising his first event later in the year.
I pointed him at Nopesport so be careful what you say as he’ll be keeping tabs from now on! I expect he’ll get involved once he knows his way around the sport a bit more.
I explained a bit about the background to the ‘Reducing the power of the members’ thread and I was impressed at his robust examination of the points I’d raised. It would be interesting to see how ‘independent’ he would be in the role – I suspect that if he recognises that his responsibilities as Chair are aligned to the interests of the sport he may actually strengthen the voice of the members.
I’ll be voting for David and Graham at the AGM because of the passion and experience they would both bring to the board, but if Drew ends up as Chair I hope that he gets a fair crack of the whip from Nopesters.
