Genuine question this not a criticism. Was looking at the potential to camp at the 6 days along with a non-orienteering family who might be persuaded to EOD for a bit of fun on one or two days.
Only thing is its a bit more expensive than I was thinking it might be (£210) for the week for a family of 4. The other family was looking at booking via the Comrie croft website which gives a 10% discount for 7 days (ie £189 for 7 days)
Has anyone tried this? I'm assuming the 6 days hasn't taken over the entire site although it might I suppose.
And just as an aside is £70 per adult for the week the going rate for camping at the 6 days these days or is it more because its a proper campsite rather than a field?

Re: Scottish 6 days camping
Two years ago it was (per night) £10 for a tent with 1 adult, £5 per extra adult and £3 per child. So £21 per night for a family of 4.

Yeah I camped for a couple of nights two years ago and thought it was less. Thanks Babs.
We camped the full week at Oban and don't remember it being quite as steep. I can see why though and don't necessarily disagree with the premise of using an existing campsite - just doesn't quite fit with our circumstances this time around.

As a comparison, £33 per night for a family of 4 at http://www.camusdarach.co.uk which is a top site with facilities and wifi. Forget just "turning up" in summer at this one - advance booking essential.

Gosh that would be a long commute to the event!
There also seemed to be no provision at the event camp site for anything other than tents. We have booked our tiny T@B caravan onto Braidhaugh Camp Site. £28 a night for 4 people including electric and full facilities. That seems to be cheaper than you are quoting AP.

We found the info about the event campsite a bit lacking.
On the Comrie Croft website 'The Summer Camping Field offers the option of tent, campervan or caravan camping, next to your vehicle. This area has its own toilets and drinking water and you’re just a couple minutes’ walk from the main facilities.'
We booked the event campsite because we will be using the buses which we've found to be very good in previous years. Assuming there'll be no electric so will go prepared.
