It's the UKUL final tomorrow in Derby. Fingers crossed for no snow this year!
Although it's rather belated, here's a preview of the standings and who needs to do what. This year there are vouchers for both first and second.
TVOC's Nathan Taylor can't be caught in Men's Young Juniors, and takes over the brick from brother Joel. Any of Oscar Sanderson, Matteo Rebora and Harry Bratcher-Howard could finish second. Before the 2017 final, I wrote "Ella May Rush (BOK) has dominated WYJ and has a perfect 500"; no need to write new words when the old ones will do! An EOD win for Hannah Mather (LOG) could tie her with Grace French (WIM) for second, but neither is pre-entered.
After handing over his MYJ brick, Joel Taylor (TVOC) can replace it with the Men's Junior trophy. First or second for William Ellis (PFO) would pinch second from Dominic Wathey (MDOC) if Dominic fails to score, but again neither is pre-entered. Eleanor Ellis (PFO) is safe in WJ, but four girls, currently separated by just 16 points, are battling it out for second.
Mark Burley leads Men's Open but defending champion Leon Foster (AIRE) has only six scores; a finish anywhere in the top 16 would allow him to retain his M Open brick. W Open is all settled: defending champion Tereza Maria Rush (BOK) wins again, with Diane Mitson (POTOC) second.
Men's Vets is desperately tight. Multiple champion Martin Ward (SYO) leads by two points from Duncan Harris (DEE). They have the same potential discard, but Duncan leads on head-to -head record so will win if he outscores Martin by 2 points or more. Jane Anthony (SROC, and W60) has won WV once more but any of Cecilia Fenerty, Helen Parkinson and Liz Phillips could take second.
John Embrey (DEE) adds the Men's Super-vets trophy to his World Masters sprint gold (I wonder which has pride of place?), but Andrew Ridgway, Keith Tonkin and Brian Ward are all in the hunt for second. Lindsey Knox (RR) wins WSV and Jill Blount (SO) is second.
Don McKerrow (SLOW) has won Men's Ultra-vets. A good result from Steve Ingleby (DEE) could catapult him above clubmate Mike Smithard into second place: third will do if Mike wins, and sixth if Mike is second. WUV is all sorted: Christine Kiddier (BL) first, Liz Godfree (DVO) second.
Guy and Judith Goodair (EPOC) retain their stranglehold on the Hyper-vet bricks. Ruth Rhodes (SO) has secured the WHV runners-up voucher, but Robert Verity (DEE) could take second from club-mate John Evans if John doesn't run. (Neither is pre-entered.)
