Hi everyone
British Orienteering have released a series of roles to support the senior team. I would strongly urge people to apply if they believe they can add something to the team and if they have the drive and motivation to do so. The squad/team are very professional in their outlook and are really going places - come and be a part of it.

Re: Senior Squad/Team roles
The prospect of working with elite orienteers can be a little intimidating and Ed is right to highlight their professional outlook, but I've always found them respectful of your ideas and what you can bring to the team, and grateful for any help and support.
One question - what's the background to this from the Squad Manager role description?

For the avoidance of doubt this role does not organise training opportunities. No training opportunities are organised under the British Orienteering name.
To oblivion and beyond....

Hi Nick
Thanks for your endorsement of the squad. Absolutely they are a welcoming bunch.
I’ll try and answer your question!
Essentially British Orienteering doesn’t run a programme of centrally organised senior training (for example in the way the talent squad is run) The work of the squad manager has been to coordinate squad members around training with each other and coaches. Now as a squad of 24 located in various places it would be helpful to get an extra pair of hands to help on that.

Radical idea* - how about getting athletes to organise a camp (in turn) in their neighbourhood (assuming decent terrain is available). Runners can visit different terrain, have high quality training and meet team-mates.
