burn up for 2nd and 5th with Ralph, you really don't want to sprint after that climb. Great run by Ralph, very solid.

What a great race. Exciting but sad to see so much decided on the last climb

6th place, just 37 seconds down. A great race...

Carnage over the finish line, bodies everywhere. Anyone for WOC long race in two days.

Yep. Really strong performance by the men. Think that probably counts as an outperformance given the level of opposition. Really nothing in it.

Re: WOC 2018 - LATVIA
he southern route on the long leg looks safer but is further and a bit more climb, Norway got it right , the rest probably a bit of groupthink kicking in. also they may have run faster in the group.

for team GB and for the organisers planning and presenting a great relay.
Did Norway put a foot wrong? Everyone else seemed to lose a bit of time at some point in the race.

Off topic a little, over 100 logged into Nopesport at the end. A record possibly.

Their first leg runner went to the wrong control at 11, but it seemed everyone was making mistakes there and it didn't cost you too much overall (France did the same, as did Peter for example)
Congrats to all three of the men, did very well to keep their heads in a manic relay.
I'm just waiting for the press conferences now, so I might be able to shed some light on what happened to Tove at the end

Oh damn - live results had us in 4th initially. Thought we’d picked up a few places in the open.

Re: WOC 2018 - LATVIA
Fantastically exciting race today as you have seen. For some context to the results, Latvia finished under one minute down and were only eighth. GBR in 6th place were 37 seconds away from gold.
Of the previous 34 WOC Men's Relays this GBR performance would have been good enough for 26 silver medals and 6 bronze medals. In the remaining two races they would have been fourth. Not an ideal comparison, since races were longer in the past and sometimes had four runner. Even so this was an unprecedented head-to-head race with a pack of seven runners essentially racing up the hill at the end to decide which two of them got medals.
Lots of photos now up showing the effort Peter, Kris and Ralph put in.

That was exciting to watch on the GPS replay when I got home from work! Fantastic stuff.
Today's mispunch in the women's relay means that we now need some awesome runs from the women on Sunday to avoid being limited to two women starters in the long at WOC 2019. Specifically, we need to get significantly better results overall than the Danish and/or Latvian women.
I would grumble about the absurdity of this method of allocating long start slots, but - to be fair - GBR were the beneficiaries of a similar Czech relay mispunch a couple of years ago...
