Re: Farewell to the LAMM
A truly wonderful and spectacular event on the Isle of Harris. Glad the pain and suffering in the heat is over but also sorry that it was the last LAMM ever. Lots of orienteers at the top of the leader boards. Pleased that we were 58th out of 100 on the Score - a remarkable improvement from last year!

Re: Farewell to the LAMM
Fantastic event and so glad to have made the effort to compete but that is tinged with sadness that it was the last LAMM. I'm sure there'll be new events of a similar theme but I suspct they won't quite have the magic!
I'm sure Martin, Debbie and the team will take great satisfaction from the many hours of enjoyment (and pain) that they've provided for thousands of competitors.
I think this one had everything that makes the LAMM that bit special, ferries, buses, buses again on Day 2, wonderful terrain as a mix of fast running ridges and slower flatter gnarly gneiss and heather with a campsite (and weather) that can never be beaten.
Thanks again to Martin and the LAMM team.

Re: Farewell to the LAMM
Shane Ohly has said he plans to keep a summer Scottish MM going. How close to Martin's model he'll keep is to be seen but he's done enough LAMMs that he should be able to keep the spirit going.

The Harris Classic was an exceptional event. You could not fault a thing from the organizing team - perfect from end to end. It felt like I had been welcomed into a close-knit family of crazies (my last MM was 24 years ago). Whatever happens I will never forget this LAMM and I doubt anything will ever surpass it. Thanks Martin and Team!

At first I thought: “the bugger, he could have said something before and I would have made more of an effort to come this year”
But then I thought: “you can’t deny it, the man has style! What a way to end it.”
Thank you for the memories - only 2 LAMMs, but they were brilliant.

Re: Farewell to the LAMM
Been there, done that, got the T shirt. My running partner Dave and I had some suspicions it might be the last LAMM so for the first time bought the event T shirt. Something to wear with pride! As an event organiser myself I can appreciate what went into the organisation and many thanks to the volunteers who helped make it happen including digging out (and filling in) the dreaded slit trench at the overnight camp.

Re: Farewell to the LAMM
LAMM was great fun - my first and sadly my last...
Best part was gambling on there being a boat between controls worth 5 points each on the score (separated by 200m of water) - we did wonder if we would have to swim or wade... but the gamble paid off!
The other best part was the beautiful beach for the remote camp site
Oh and the Ceilidh and band!
