Entries for the British Championships are now closed. So if you have entered for them, no doubt you will be enjoying a super day at the British Relays on Sunday 20th May.
But if you are not going to Balmoral, there are only a handful of alternative events to choose from that day:
Pendle Forest Orienteers have a level C event near Burnley
Norfolk Orienteering Club have a level C event near Hunstanton
Saxons Orienteering Club have a level C event near Faversham
However Thames Valley Orienteering Club’s premier event, the Chiltern Challenge, is also being held on Sunday 20th May. Originally scheduled for mid-April, it had to be deferred because the car park field was saturated. There were no sensible dates for rescheduling; clashing with the British Champs was the least worst option, but it did mean a substantial number of pre-entrants were unable to attend.
Originally a level B event, the event has been reclassified as level C for technical reasons. But in all other respects, it will be exactly as originally planned, with some of the best terrain in the Chilterns, a newly updated map, and a full range of 12 challenging courses.
The event officials have put a huge amount of work into this event, including finding alternative car parking arrangements to avoid any risk of a repeat cancellation. So please make their efforts worthwhile, and reward them with a decent attendance.
Pre-entry via Fabian4. Closing date is Sunday 13th May.

We will still accept entries for the British Orienteering Championships and the Relays on a waiting list up till the 11th May. Enjoy the Chilterns if you cannot make it up to bonny Scotland.
