British Sprints
Where can you find out how many qualify for the A Finals in each class? Can't find anything in the Final details.

They contradict themselves
7.2.4 c - c) If there are less than 12 entrants in a particular class then they will all run the same
heat7.4.3 If there are from 6 to 35 entrants, the number of qualifiers from each heat to the A-final will be
equal.

Re: British s;prints
7.2 is about how many competitors run in each HEAT
7.4 is about how many competitors run in each FINAL
7.4 is about how many competitors run in each FINAL

To clarify further, if there are 8 competitors they all run the same heat and then the top four go into the A final and the rest the B final. If 7 it becomes 4/3 to A/B.

You can't, it depends on who enters. Just like whether you get ranking points

Go to the start list https://www.sientries.co.uk/list.php?event_id=3680 and you can see how many have entered each class; then, according to the rules:
36 or more - 18 in the A final
6 to 35 - half in the A final (rounded up if an odd number of entrants)
5 or fewer - all in the A final
(Numbers could be increased if there's a tie in one of the heats.)
I must admit, I'm surprised that the event seems more popular with older veterans than younger ones.

Any idea how many go into the B Finals?

In most classes the answer has to be simple - all those who didn't make the A final
For the few with B and C finals, the table of start times suggests a 50:50 split between the B and C finals, except M55 where the B final has a 25 minute start window and the C final 20 minutes. I guess we'll find out on Saturday!

Re: British Sprints
Good courses today and an excellent arena. Just one problem, and it seems to happen most years: a crush of people trying to read the lists of start times for the finals, which this year caused a 20 minute delay. It seems easy to improve this:
1. Spread the lists out (there was a very convenient wall that would have been ideal, or even just using all sides of the triangular display boards would have been an improvement)
2. Print the in bigger font (especially for the older courses) so that we can read them from further away. Headings in very large print would ensure that people queued in the right place.
3. Possibly have shading on alternate lines so that it's easier to follow across from your name to the time.
A second set displayed at the start would also have helped.
Or for a more high-tech approach, would it be difficult to send competitors who registered a mobile number a text with their start time, just as parkrun does with its results? Still have lists, of course, for those without phones.

That should absolutely be possible. Even easier would be to put them online and/or on a local wifi network.

Re: British Sprints
Or maybe have a format that it's actually possible for real organisers to deliver in real time.
Like run the finals in reverse order of qualifying time, with all finals of a given age on the same course, so you can tell from your finishing position when you start.
I know I say this every year, but there must come a stage where we accept that inability to get the finals started on time is a problem with the complicate format, not a sign that every organising team is independently incompetent.
