If you are packing for the 6-Day then please remember your reusable mug etc so you can support the #0waste campaign to help reduce the environmental impact during the week!
And while you are at it, please take a photo and post it (with the #0waste tag) to help spread the word via the social media of your choice

And please please remove all your own waste, including banana skins and shoe tape, from the arena and car parks. We have waste and recycling bins kindly provided by Aberdeenshire Council this year but filling and removing masses of black bin bags have been the bane of a 6 Day Organisers life in previous years.

Re: S6D
Have to say those last two posts haven't exactly stoked my excitement.
How's the weather?
What are the forests looking like?
Are the quiz questions better than that year when there was one about the planner eating ice cream?
What are the midges like?
You're not selling it guys!

Anyone getting excited about the World Games? Starts tomorrow I believe....
Interestingly, Orienteering is defined as a "Trend Sport " in the World games, sounds encouraging.

Jordan Speith was understood to be orienteering according to the BBC coverage of The Open. Deeside looks lovely, they don't get midges, weather set fair (better than the south), cannot comment on quiz.
Fac et Spera. Views expressed are not necessarily those of the Scottish 6 Days Assistant Coordinator

No questions about ice cream or planners. There will be pictures, there will be music, there will be questions where the answers are not as obvious as you might think. And without giving too much away you might want to look around and see what your fellow competitors are wearing!. All that and more!

Not sure about planners eating ice-cream... but there are ice-cream vans coming along - as well as top class catering such as Sheridan's of Ballater (by appointment to various Royals), the famous Continental Sausage company, "proper coffee" vans, and other food/drink outlets, as well as equipment suppliers CompassPoint and Ultrasport.
Weather looking fair and forests definitely not too soggy (given very dry spring). Car parks and arena fields looking flat and well drained
What's not to like?

PS done 2 of the training areas - nice forests if a little grassy in some parts. Glen Dye has the best blueberries in Deeside (or the world??), go there if you want purple mouths/hands! Orienteering is also tricky, areas at south end of map that have been recently thinned are a bit heavy going but passable (by a 12 year old).
Balnagowan - hilltops are great orienteering, transport legs across have avoided the worst boring marshy sections. Not so many blueberries though!
