Amazing how seconds count even after so long out in the forest - Alan gets into the top 25 by 1 second and Ralph could have gained a place if 4 seconds faster!
Given the "strong" input expected the Senior Event Advisor it is surprising that there have been errors - wrong contour interval published on Sprint Relay map, winning times too long.

It's not that surprising when the SEA is Jørn Sundby, he allowed a lot of mistakes at WOC 2015

Pictures from today are up - notice the majority show some pretty tired runners!

Spoke to Alan after his race, said he was happy with how he did but that they just don't train to be racing for over 2 hours in a long distance event
In that case Alan hasn't checked out previous WOC long races - firstly they are almost always over-planned and secondly British runners generally aren't going to win the race so adding 10-15 minutes (at least) to the winning time would be sensible.

Getting the winning time in the long right is actually quite hard
90-100 only gives you 11% margin as compared to middle 17% (30-35) and sprint 25% (12-15).
Having said that they do generally aim high - I guess no planner wants to be accused of planning a wimpy woc classic?

The planners, controllers and SEA all add their little bits so the courses almost invariably end up too long. If look at WOC races most don't change hugely in the last 10 minutes so all this does is stuff the slower runners much more.

B4 stated an expected winning time of 100 mins so they were only a bit over 5% out.
Had they aimed for 96 mins and over-planned it by 5% out then their course would have been about 101 mins and no-one would have complained.
To me it is a huge shame since it otherwise looked an excellent course with some cracking route choices.
