I'm surprised there hasnt been more of a negative reaction from the glasshouse dwelling NOPE crowd regarding this patently illegal activity.
Quite different from the comments following the last incident involving an orienteer and alcohol to reach the national media. No publicity is bad publicity eh? One rule for the cheeky laddies perhaps another for the ladies?

Assault when drunk is on a different scale to breaking border regulations. There is no report of a diplomatic incident.

I'm just happy they didn't get caught by the Russians, who tend not to have such a sense of humour...

These lads made 'The Sun'. Why does BOF have a marketing manager when we've got lads like this. Welcome to my house in Gothenburg when you like lads, beers on me!

Re: extreme 'going OOB'
An Englishman and Irishman and a Scotsman went into a bear for a drink...
Sounds like a bad joke; but enough about Finnish beer already.
At my first Jukola, in a town that no longer exists, we went to the border. I didn't have the courage to cross, though that may have been due to the 12' razor wire fence, the minefield and the bored-looking guy with the machine gun in the watchtower.
It's easy to forget how much the world has progressed for the better.
(especially when faced with a Finnish beer)

Do they take Finnish money in Russia? or did they exchange it somewhere for roubles?

Re: extreme 'going OOB'
They took their own tinines, there is a fairly wide (1-4-km apparently) zone parallel to the border so no concessions stands!
I generally approve of the caper, lucky not to get caught by the Russians though!
I don't really approve of selling the story to the sun (as I've heard) but given the fine, unused ferry tickets (and a missed jukola boat party!) and last minute flights home I suppose recouping it from the Murdoch empire is somewhat commendable!
General consensus in Sheffield is we'd neck a couple of cans in way quicker than 15mins so would be away scot free

Re: extreme 'going OOB'
'Selling' the story to the Sun may have been unwise. If the Fins get wind that the Brits are taking the piss they may choose to set an example. Its time for some humble pie to wash down the beer.

Maybe they should have offered that border guard one of those beers.

Humble pie! I don't think so, thank god for youths like these challenging borders, we should be praising these lads. Scandinavians don't care about the tabloids or what the Brits think, Britain is the laughing stock of Europe at the moment. I'm sitting up a mountain at the moment in Andorra and anyone who asks where I come from I say I'm Swedish, sad but true.

More characters like this won't do any harm for the sport either!

By the way - why don't our Brit kids play marsh football on tour any more? Clearly it has it's benefits...

This has reminded me that, in the spring of 1968, I climbed over the border fence in the far North of Norway just for the excitement of standing in the USSR. I was too young to have any beer with me however.
