I very much enjoyed Course 2 today. The map was excellent, as was the planning.
The only issue which was problematic was the use of Emit contactless. It seemed to be the same system used at Rugby, but from recollection whereas Rugby still used kites in addition to the Emit panel, Amesbury only had the Emit panel. On most controls the panel was fairly visible, but on some, mainly the tree or thicket controls, it was a lot harder and they were sometimes partially hidden. Please can anyone using this system again still hang a traditional kite with the control panel.
Thanks though for an excellent event which was well worth the journey.

I too enjoyed today's event (also course 2) - had quite a nice flow to it most of the time whilst there were a few times when you had to be careful of uncrossable fences etc.
Interesting point on the lack of flags - I think I agree as that is what we are used to looking for and it also perhaps makes it clearer to the general public what we are doing? Though when it came to the easier controls it was quite good to just have the board as it was more difficult to see them from a distance which meant you had to be sure of your finer navigation!
Thanks to the organisers and marshals/helpers for running the event.

I agree with DavidHH that the area and the planning were good, and I enjoyed it. The event was well worth its place in the UK Urban League; thank you SARUM.

Rule 23.1 wrote:The control site must be identified on the ground by a three sided banner with each side vertical and around 30 cm square, divided diagonally from corner to corner, the top half being white and the other half usually being orange.

I ran course 3, also very much enjoyed it and thought the planning was excellent - kept you on your toes the whole way.

Yes indeed - I lost 40 seconds looking for my final control (I took 74 and the fastest was 33) - the one on the vegetation boundary corner - it was strapped to a tree trunk but as far as I recall on the side away from which runners would be approaching. I ran right past it - I must have looked straight at the tree (but of course not knowing how high or low the control would be, nor that it would be strapped to a tree) - having overshot I then spent time peering through and then penetrating the semi-open through to the green woodland thinking "they can't have but it in here, where would they have put it if they had made a mistake" - well they hadn't

I've experienced this with SI Air at northern Level C events. Controls crippled to trees, its good that SIAC works however you need to "waft" the control to register. Slightly annoyed to play "hunt the control" when it should ideally be on a stake next to it.
The challenge is getting to the centre of the circle, then the correct feature. Finding the control on the feature should not be the problem. Maybe your lucky when you arrive and someone is exiting it.
