Has anyone been able to track down any information about this year's "British", other that it's at High Dam on the 6th May? With the first entry fee cut-off coming up shortly, I'm guessing that many may not want to commit until they know something more about the event organisation.
The normal British Champs website still refers to 2016 whilst the LOC and NWOA sites both mention 2017 but give little extra info. Fabian 4 seem to know a little more however - for example, they are asking whether or not competitors wish to hire SIAC cards. Does this infer that BOC will allow an SI "mixed economy" this year and, if so, can someone please confirm it?
[Later edit] Stop Press! British Champs website now relates to the 2017 event! Let's hope some detail gets posted there soon

Re: The British
I was just having a look at the entry page - and noted that it said the entry fee for non-championship courses was £12!
Now as we all here know - short courses are not championship courses - the likes of Gnitworp et al have banged on about that long enough god knows - so why is the entry £25 and not £12? I'd make the journey for a £12 W60S run (and the opportunity to buy one of those delicious tops) and perhaps the chance of a relay run!

Actually thinking about this - isn't there a Trading Standards issue by stating non champ courses are £12 and then charging Championship rates? I think I better email BOF and ask.

Their lawyers will argue that you are running a championship course - just not for your class.

Mrs H, you might be better off waiting for the details on control punching to be published first. Hopefully they won't be contrary to the wording and spirit of BO's own Events & Competition Committee decision on what constitutes a fair competition.

Re: The British
If short courses are not Championship courses why do we bother having them at all?
Surely the British Championships IS ALL ABOUT the British Championships and so we should do away with Short courses and offer colour-codeds only for anyone coming in support of a club or family member?
Has this been a thread already?

Because if we didn't the entry fees would have to go up to £40.

Re: The British
I have also searched the BOC and LOC pages - as a minimum it would be good to know the closing date for entries / any cheap rate closing and range of start times / whether we are being bussed so we know whether we need to book accommodation for the Friday.
Thanks if you are reading this BOC / LOC folk

I looked at that, but I couldn't find the start window. I emailed the Organisers, but have heard nothing yet.

I would like to know about the start window too and also distance to assembly and whether there are buses before we enter. We are driving down to Manchester airport from Glasgow to go on holiday on the Sunday so thought we might take the opportunity. However with young kids I don't want to over complicate matters if the logistics are difficult.
I have sent an email to the boc17 address on the website but it has bounced back saying there is no such user.
What are pictorial descriptions?

It looks like it complies with the letter though not the spirit.
It is one thing permitting people to use their own non-SIAC dibbers at an event if they really insist - It is pushing it a bit to advertise cost of "standard" E-card hire as £1 - and then to present SIAC as an optional upgrade. The event is running contactless punching so SIAC cards are the standard and that is what should be hired.

That's because the address on the website was wrong, it should have been boc2017@nwoa.org.uk and boc2017_entries@nwoa.org.uk
But I have now added additional forwarders so either should work.

Re: The British
I emailed BOF last Friday (13th) and asked about the entry fee but I didn't get a reply. Think I'll probably give it a miss and do the Sprint and Middle Distance champs instead.

Re: The British
I had this from Richard Tiley which is most helpful:
I have put the following information up on the site.
Start times will be from 10:00hrs to 14:00hrs.
Parking will be in different fields in the Finsthwaite Valley.
Parking will be between 400m and 1.5km of Assembly.
At the moment Starts are from 1.0km to 2.0km from Assembly subject to final Controlling with no start having more than 80m of climb.
Controller will be making a week long visit at the Start of February so I cannot be certain of distances to the starts, or indeed how many , until after Mikes' visit.
