RG2 and Score Events
Can anyone give me advice on how to put a score event on Routegadget please? I've done many 'ordinary' events so I'm ok with the basics, but have so far failed on this one. I'm assuming each runner should be able to put an individual route on without having a control order specified. I've uploaded a results file. The event was done in Purple Pen - do I need to upload an 'all controls' file? I know there is a tick box for butterfly/score etc and the option to 'draw course' but after I've got the start and a few controls done, they keep disappearing. How do I put a finish on? Perhaps it will all be obvious after a night's sleep and I shouldn't be doing it when I'm tired after a run..

Things should be exactly the same as for a normal event, so you upload a results file and a course file.
Just make sure you tick the "Individual courses (butterfly/score/relay)" box.
The "Draw courses" option is intended for informal events where you haven't got a results file or course file. You'd normally just put on a start and finish, and then include controls on the map image. This is how I do all of our street score events using OpenOrienteeringMap.

Thanks for the quick reply Simon - that's pretty much what I thought I was doing, but something wasn't right. I'll have another go tomorrow.

I suspect that your Purple Pen course file (XML) didn't have a course. It needs to contain a defined (named) course with a start and finish and all the potential controls. Also that course name should be the same name as used in the results CSV.

I'm just about to have another go using a map image that has the controls on it already, as per Simon's urban score events.
The PP course files I was working with (a long score and a short score) were correctly named to tally with the names in RG so that wasn't the problem.

Re: RG2 and Score Events
If you have a course xml file and an OE splits format results file you don't need a background map with controls marked on it. If users tick the top right box to show the course it will show all the controls on that course. When you tick a competitor it will show the controls in the sequence they visited them. So even if people haven't added a route you can still see which sequence they punched.

Success - I now realise I actually did it right the very first time, but tiredness stopped me realising that runners individual courses were being shown, and the controls joined by lines depending on the punch order.
I still haven't managed the 'draw course' option with a pre-marked map. I added a start and a finish and just got a line between them and the edge of the map. Anyway, that doesn't matter now I've got the event online ok. Must get back to the day job and will revisit that method another time. Thanks for all help offered.
RG is a great tool btw - I just wish more people would see it's potential and put their routes on. I always try to get it online asap after an event.
