CLYDE have a mini split printer thats gone a bit haywire. It prints out gobbledeygook as soon as you switch it on even when not connected to anything. Its happened after I updated the firmware on our SI units lately but not sure if its connected.
Could do with a factory reset button but doesnt seem to do that in the settings.
Have initiated a email conversation with Jeff at SPort Ident but wondered if anyone out there had any ideas.

Re: Martel Mini splits printer problem
Are you sure it prints out rubbish even when not connected to a download unit??
The splits printer will print out rubbish when connected to a download unit that is set to the wrong baud rate (it needs to be set to 4800). FVO have had a issue with this a few times over the last 6 months or so. For a download unit with a serial connection (through a USB adapter into the laptop) SI Config + seems to change the baud rate when changing from direct to remote for programming units, and I have to constantly change it back and then test it. It's a bit of pain.

Re: Martel Mini splits printer problem
It's a download box problem which has happened to us a couple of times.
PROGRAMMING THE DOWNLOAD BOX BACK TO BE A PRINTOUT STATION
(if it has been programmed to read directly into a computer at an event or been used to program SI boxes)
In SI-Config+
select Direct
select Read or Settings
Printer info comes up
select Code no 1
select Printout
alter Working Time to 00:02:00
select Write
Baudrate needs to be 4800: my SI-Config+ seems to do this automatically but you can change it manually if necessary.

Ursula/FG - nice one!
Early days but I changed the baud rate as you suggested and that seems to have worked. Not something I got from the SI manual - it was at 38 thousand.
I wonder if the printer gets clogged up with data if its the wrong baud rate causing the endless gibberish printing.
ALthough you'd expect it to stop if you take out the batteries but it was continuing when the batteries were replaced.
Fingers crossed!

Which is the baud rate for the USB connections, you need to have the serial setting of 4800. Updating the firmware on the download unit may well have updated this to a USB default? Jeff should be able to tell you for sure.

We've also found that if someone tries to printout from an SI card that has been cleared but not started you end up with a continuous printout. If I remember correctly once the box goes to sleep it sorts itself out.
