The brace position...
Anyone else have an insurance policy with the NFU? We receive their magazine, 'Countryside', and sometimes even read it! Very pleased to see an article entitled: 'How to... go orienteering'. Not so pleased that there was no obvious mention of orienteering as a sport, and the only link is to baoc.org/wiki/Training/Pace_Counting - a club in the Bay Area of San Fransisco? I very much like the useful advice given, ie 'put one knee on the ground with the other leg bent and facing forward. This provides a stable platform for using a map or compass'. I shall do this from now on in the hope that it improves my speed

It's nice to hear that NFU Mutual's attendance at the last couple of British Orienteering AGMs has given them such an accurate impression of the sport

Thought this might relate to some obscure research on the distorting effects of orthodontic dental treatment on compass accuracy although there can be less metal than in those old 1970's braces my school mates wore.
