Thank you O lady. I had imagined that I should not be able to get to the Dunes by public transport but with the amazing travel info I'm now all booked - train both ways and B&B in Southport.

My pleasure Ursula. Never underestimate the power of an orienteer (can't manage grandmother) with a chemistry degree.

Liverpool Big Weekend - Ainsdale Entries update
A reminder that, as a condition of permission, we have a strict entry limit of 500 for the Saturday 3 September Ainsdale Dunes event. Current Fabian4 online entries plus postal entries puts us at 279.
Entries have been coming in a steady daily rate since they opened with no sign of slowing down at present.
We will set up a waiting list if we get to the 500 but don't rely on that!
There is no entry limit for the UK Urban League Liverpool race on Sunday.
Entries close on Sunday 21 August.

Re: Liverpool Big Weekend - Sand & City, 3-4 September
I am one who knew they could only run on the Sunday so did not enter the Saturday but it seems Fabian4 does an entry total which is why the figure is 500 entries.
When I had a look at Fabian 4 just now there are only 475 entries for Day 1 so does this mean there are 25 spots left.
Interestingly there are 333 entries for the urban race so quite a few runners only doing one day of the weekend.

It could be that about a third of the competitors in the sand dunes are not interested in doing urban races.

I'm not surprised 33% of people want to just to Sand not Urban
I am surprised 5% of people still enter by post!! Paying by cheque?

With the cheap trains we couldn't turn down the opportunity to run at Ainsdale, but we decided that the urban wasn't worth exorbitant extra cost of an overnight stay - I never knew how expensive Liverpool is! Very early train up, early start at Ainsdale, afternoon touristing in Liverpool, lateish train home.

Southport is much cheaper than Liverpool and Mersey Rail would take you to Liverpool the next morning.

Re: Liverpool Big Weekend - Sand & City, 3-4 September
Thanks King Penguin for posting to explain the postal entry - I've been busy dealing with requests to be on the waiting list. It is from the Lakeland school group - hence the large number - it is not the start of a trend back to postal entries.
The waiting list is currently at 26 people. If anyone does decide not to come and cancels, we will give them a full refund through Fabian4 (minus the Fabian4 admin charge). After the closing date, we will manage map printing to accommodate the courses that those on the waiting list would run so if slots become available, there will be a map for them.
