World Orienteering Day
Good to hear a plug for this at the beginning of today's episode of Countdown.

How did it go? SATS reduced our Primary numbers, where we were targeting all our efforts. However, we had a small event in Vulcan Park in the middle of Workington and a few schools were able to walk their classes there. 228 took part (Years 4/5/6). Weather was kind, windy and a touch on the cool side! Great fun though, and well worth the effort.

I have heard that the miserable wet conditions this morning (and the traffic chaos due to the M4 being closed) did not dampen the spirits and enthusiasm of the 300+ children St Andrew's School, Pangbourne - an all-school event supported by BKO.

A primary schools festival for upper Deeside was held at Creag Choinnich (Braemar). 60 children attended and enjoyed the sunshine, heat (20+C) and the wonderful forest, though some complained that orienteering was "really hard work".
Thanks to Sarah Dunn (Maroc club development officer) for arranging this together with Aboyne Active Schools coordinator Shona Park.

Re: World Orienteering Day
STAG had an event last night in Pollok Park which had a number of schoolkids at it.
CLYDE are in a school today and tomorrow. For practical reasons it wasnt possible to hold either event on WOD, and in any case due to only having one set of equipment we couldnt have done both on the same day. As a result neither event is branded under WOD as they had to go ahead on the day. Maybe WOW might be easier...

Went to a super SYO event planned by Olly in beautiful settings with bluebell woods, formal gardens, stately parkland and a steep wooded valley. Multi maps on multi scale. A real delight.

SLOW moved their Tuesday street-O event in Notting Hill to WOD; seemed to be a good turnout.

FVO had a good turnout at the "iconic" Falkirk Wheel - most courses ran under it and around the basin. Thanks to Jamie Stevenson for Planning/Organising.
